My artistic journey is a fusion of urban life's vibrant tapestry and a commitment to social change. Through editorial-style digital portrait photography, I capture individuals with distinct personal narratives, presenting their stories in bold and avant-garde ways. My portrait work empowers everyday people while amplifying marginalized voices. Recently, I’ve embarked on projects that empower the dreams of underserved NYC creative youth and explore the lived experiences of people of color with dementia.
Drawing from my upbringing in the diverse neighborhoods of Queens and Brooklyn, I craft visual stories that celebrate resilience and humanity. Each portrait is a deliberate combination, layering personal history, emotion, and identity with my expertise in visual storytelling, set design, costume styling, and carpentry. Inspired by photographers like Laretta Houston, Lindsay Adler, and Miss Aniela, I explore the boundaries of color, lighting, and composition to create striking, thought-provoking imagery.
As a community "artivist," I feel a profound responsibility to address pressing social issues through my work. Whether redefining beauty standards, or humanizing those facing adversity, my photography challenges perception, provokes empathy, and ignites dialogue. By embracing my cultural background and drawing from collective wisdom, I strive to foster connection and contribute to a more inclusive society.
